When we’re looking for the best blender for grinding rice we’re searching for machines that can turn white or brown rice into rice flour. Isn’t it absolutely impressive that blenders are capable of turning dry grains and beans into flours?
I’ve already approached this subject by talking about the best blenders for making flour and I had an amazing time discovering some of the best appliances on the market. And some of the most interesting accessories we can get for some models.
But let’s talk about the best blenders for grinding rice for those who are particularly interested in this grain. Just know that you can use those same blenders to grind other grains and beans, as well.
Moreover, you can use them to grind spices. And to make whatever drinks, smoothies you want.
These appliances can also be used to make ice cream. Or hummus, creamy soups, pureed foods, dressings, salsa, and so many other dishes.
Best Blender for Grinding Rice Reviews
When we want to buy the best blender for grinding rice, we mostly look for two characteristics:
- a powerful motor base that can grind dry grains into fluffy flour
- and a blade assembly that is capable of turning grains into flour in just a few seconds
This is the winning combination and what we care most about. There aren’t really that many blenders that are truly capable of making rice flour and other types of flour.
For example, while I absolutely love the Ninja SS351 when it comes to making smoothies, smoothie bowls, all kinds of foods like appetizers and dips, soups, dressings and sauces, frozen drinks, cocktails, desserts, and dough for bread, pizza and desserts, I can’t recommend it as one of the best blenders for grinding rice because it doesn’t have the desired blades.
Thus, let’s review the models that meet the criteria necessary for grinding rice into a fine powder to use for our baking, our top picks for the best blender for grinding rice.
1. Vitamix E310 Explorian: Overall the Best Blender for Grinding Rice
Let’s be honest: pretty much any Vitamix countertop blender we choose, will be completely capable of grinding rice and whatever other grains, beans and dry spices we want to turn into fine powders.
When it comes to powerful blenders, there’s no more famous manufacturer than Vitamix. Anyone is going to associate this brand with exceptional power and exceptional performance.
Moreover, when I wrote an article debating how long blenders last, I also mentioned that their models also have some of the longest warranties, like 5 or 7 or 10 years warranty.
The only direct competitor to Vitamix machines is the Breville Super Q, which has an even more powerful motor base and it also includes a 10-year warranty. And the Tribest Dynapro with 15-year warranty for households.
Thus, we’ve established that Vitamix appliances are fantastically powerful and capable of pulverizing rice grains in a few seconds. That’s all well and good.
But how do we end up choosing which Vitamix precisely we’re going to buy? That’s the question we’re going to concern ourselves with in the first part of this article.
Why I prefer the Vitamix E310 Explorian
There’s really one very simple reason for preferring the Vitamix E310: it’s among the cheapest Vitamix countertop blenders.
Thus, for those who want a model specifically for this brand but can’t go anywhere near $500 or more prices, this E310 might be the perfect choice. This is the main reason for recommending it first but we’re also going to review more powerful Vitamix blenders, too.
I would go as far as to say that, for Vitamix standards, the E310 Explorian is quite affordable. At a price around $300-$350, it’s one of the cheapest.
On the other hand, the Vitamix E310 Explorian might not be viewed as being as powerful as other more expensive appliances from this brand.
But I’m going to say that, even if the Explorian is slightly less powerful than blenders that cost $500 or more, it’s still impressively powerful.
All Vitamix models are so you really don’t have to worry about anything. It will grind white or brown rice without any difficulties and it will do it in just a few seconds.
Features
Vitamix describes the E310 as the entry into true high-performance blending. It’s a high performance blender with a lower price.
The manufacturer also mentions that it’s a way for customers to enjoy iconic Vitamix quality at an unprecedented price.
This is one of the easiest to use blenders on the market. I would say that it’s pretty old-school, which can be really nice.
While many appliances will have a bunch of buttons and programs, Vitamix mostly relies on a button for selecting speeds from 1 to 10.
The only other button present is the one for the pulse feature. We use the pulse feature if we want to crush ice in the exact size we desire. Or if we want to shred chicken. Or if we want to make thick vegetable soups, chunky pasta sauce or if we want to layer coarse chops over smooth purees.
I love the simplicity that Vitamix offers, although I also love models that have a bunch of buttons and functions and programs. As long as they offer the desired results, I’m good with whatever layout.
As I’ve already assured you, it’s a powerful blender with a 1,200-1,400 watts motor base. We won’t have problems with grinding dry grains and beans.
There’s also a 48 oz container.
The pitcher is definitely not the biggest but that’s not a con. If you have a bunch of rice to grind, it will just mean that you’ll need a few blends until you have all the flour that you want.
Since Vitamix blenders are so powerful and fast, it won’t take long to blend/grind/crush/chop whatever quantity of ingredients you have at your disposal.
Impressive speed is indeed a feature that Vitamix blenders excel at.
How to grind rice with Vitamix E310 Explorian
If you want to grind rice into the finest flour, you’re going to move the blender from the lowest speed to the highest in a very quick succession.
After that, all you have to do is to let it run until the blades turn coarse, hard grains of rice into the finest flour. It will literally only take a few seconds. It’s an amazing process to witness.
Add just two cups of rice at a time. If you need to grind 6 cups, you’ll have to do it in 3 blending sessions, which is only going to take 2-3 minutes.
If we want any blender, no matter how cheap or expensive it is, to last a long time we must make sure not to overload the motor by adding too many ingredients in the pitcher. Less is more and we don’t have to rush since everything is blended so quickly.
In The Vitamix Cookbook you’ll also come across a creamy rice cereal recipe. It’s an interesting recipe that also has to do with grinding uncooked rice.
The ingredients are uncooked rice, water, and salt as optional.
Once we add the rice to the pitcher, all we have to do is go from speed 1 to speed 7 or 8 for about 10 seconds. We still want our rice to have texture so we only need the blades to crack the rice a bit.
After that, we bring water and salt to a boil and slowly add the cracked rice to the boiling water. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes until it’s completely cooked. Stir frequently. It’s going to take longer if you prefer grinding brown rice.
Vitamix recommends using their Vitamix dry grains container. It is a separate accessory that Vitamix users can buy if they want to grind grains, beans and spices into a container created specifically for such tasks.
However, we can use the wet blade container that comes with our Vitamix model if we don’t want to spend extra money on a different pitcher.
In the same cookbook we’ll also find a recipe for rice milk but we need cooked brown rice for that one.
2. Vitamix Dry Grains Container: Fantastic Accessory for Grinding Rice
The main reason I decided to introduce Vitamix as my first recommendation for the best blender for grinding rice is because I also wanted to talk about a special accessory that Vitamix sells.
Just as the name suggests, the Vitamix Dry Grains Container is designed for grinding whole grains into fresh flours, mixing batter and simulating the kneading process to make dough.
Thus, besides grinding grains, beans and spices with its specially designed blades, it’s also perfect for batters and for making dough.
Their dry grains container can be a very useful accessory for those who want to give up on purchasing any type of flour or spice mix from supermarkets.
Is it a cheap accessory?
Of course not. This is Vitamix we’re talking about. It would be like saying that KitchenAid makes cheap accessories/attachments for their stand mixers.
The Vitamix Dry Grains Container is a lot more expensive than a lot of blenders on the market, whether we’re talking about countertop, personal or immersion blenders.
Features
We pay for a 32 oz container with a specially designed set of blades and a lid.
As expected, the container is clearly marked with ounce and cup measurements.
Even the lid plug has a 2-ounce measurement line.
Just like I’ve mentioned above, I recommend grinding just 2 cups of rice in a session.
There’s just one thing you must be aware of: the container is only compatible with full-size Classic C- or G-Series Vitamix blenders.
It is not compatible with the Vitamix Ascent and Venturist series. But it can be bought for the Vitamix machines that I review in this article.
3. Nutribullet Personal Blender: Cheapest Blender for Grinding Rice
There are still a couple more Vitamix models that I want to review but let’s take a break from expensive machines. We totally deserve a break from talking about blenders that cost hundreds of dollars.
Let’s actually talk about a blender that’s priced under $100. And that’s the nutribullet 600.
If you’re on a budget, I can’t recommend anything better than the original nutribullet.
Features
The nutribullet 600 is a personal blender, which means that it’s small.
We get a 24 oz cup that comes with a travel lid.
While it’s compact, it’s also powerful and that’s exactly what we’re looking for if we want to buy the best blender for grinding rice.
It has a 600 watts motor base. That doesn’t seem like much but it truly stands up to the big boys in countertop blenders.
It’s the perfect choice for people who don’t have much space in their kitchens or for those who are on a budget.
How to grind rice with the nutribullet 600
Since we only get a 24 oz cup, we won’t be able to grind much rice at one. I would recommend grinding one cup at a time. The less you grind at a time, the better it’s going to perform.
It’s definitely not as fast as Vitamix but it’s still very fast.
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on buying rice flour from the supermarket but you also don’t want to spend a lot of money on a blender to help you make rice flour, I think that the nutribullet 600 is the perfect answer for both.
You can also check out this video if you want to see exactly how fast it grinds rice into flour. It’s very helpful.
4. Nutribullet Milling Blade: Cheap Accessory for Grinding Rice
I cannot talk about the nutribullet 600 without immediately mentioning a very cheap accessory that you should totally get.
It costs so little that it would be a shame to overlook buying one. Unlike the Vitamix Dry Grains Container that costs around $150, the Nutribullet Milling Blade is 10 times cheaper.
Of course, we don’t get a whole container to attach to our nutribullet 600.
We only get a blade, which is called a flat blade. It’s great at finely grinding nuts, seeds, grains and coffee beans.
But isn’t it wonderful that simply by switching the blade assembly, we can make so many things with an affordable machine like the nutribullet 600?
Of course we can totally use the nutribullet 600 without attaching the Nutribullet Milling Blade and it will still function perfectly.
I just prefer reminding people of the existence of the Nutribullet Milling Blade since it exists, it’s cheap and so great to have.
This cheap milling blade will transform the nutribullet 600 into a blender that it’s capable of milling white & brown rice into a fine consistency in a very short time.
We can make rice flour, whole grain flour, millet flour, chickpea flour or grind lentils. It also works for spices, grinding coffee beans and making peanut butter.
Moreover, the Nutribullet Milling Blade comes with proper pulsing technique. That means that it can be used as a chopping blade. You can even use it to puree meat or to chop raw vegetables. I really like this accessory a lot, more so since it’s so cheap.
5. Breville Super Q
If blenders under $100 are more of what you’re looking for, I recommend the nutribullet 600 as the best choice.
However, if you have a budget that’s more in the range of $500 and you don’t want a Vitamix, then I recommend giving the Breville Super Q a second of your time.
Is an excellent but expensive machine with interesting components and features. It’s quite the surprise and I love it. I would love it even more if it were cheaper but that’s my problem. Maybe it won’t be yours.
Components
This is an appliance that comes with a couple of interesting components.
We get:
- 1,800 watts motor base
- 68 oz jug
- 24 oz cup
- recipe book
- tamper
- spatula
- 10 year limited product warranty
Let’s quickly cover the fact that the most attractive feature about the Super Q as one of the best blenders for grinding rice is that impressive 1,800 watts motor base.
It’s absolutely uncommon to have such a powerful motor in household blenders. This type of power is usually reserved for commercial blenders that cost $1,000 or more.
The 68 oz jug is big enough to handle meals and drinks for medium to big families. It also allows us to grind plenty of flour in one go.
The 24 oz cup is a very helpful accessory if you want to enjoy drinks on the go.
The easiest way to figure out how to use the Breville Super Q to grind rice is to take a look at the recipe book that comes with this machine. In fact, you can check out the cookbook here.
I really like that their recipe book is available for free. You can get inspiration from it, whether you end up buying this specific model or not.
Features
The Breville Super Q is one of those blenders with a bunch of features and programs.
We get 5 one touch programs: green smoothie, smoothie, soup, pulse|ice crush, and frozen dessert.
The frozen dessert program can also be used to make ice cream. There are a few delicious recipes in the book for those kinds of delights.
The soup one touch program allows us to make fast cold-to-hot soups easily. Although, I still prefer making mine on the stovetop in a saucepan or stockpot. And then blending them in my blender or just using the immersion blender if I don’t want to transfer the soup to a container.
However, the thing that really interests us when we want to mill grains is found among the 12 speeds that this blender has.
Among the 12 speed settings, we’ll find: mill, puree, blend, chop, mix, and stir.
These speeds shows us just how versatile this machine is although no one doubted that fact.
One last interesting feature we should know about the Super Q is that it comes with noise suppression technology. A unique cooling system reduces operating noise.
If you’re looking for quiet blenders, this might be a nice bonus. It’s unusual to think of such a powerful blender as being quiet but Breville always manages to surprise users.
How to grind rice with the Breville Super Q
In order to understand how we can grind rice with the help of the Super Q, we should consult their recipe book.
However, their recipe is for a gluten free flour mix. You might not want to make a mix, your purpose only being on making rice flour in your blender but the procedure is the same. That’s what truly matters.
Their gluten free flour mix recipe consists of medium grain white rice and brown rice as the dry grains that need to be milled into a fine powder. Thus, we still find what interests us.
The rest of the ingredients consist of nonfat milk powder, gluten free cornstarch, organic tapioca flour, organic potato flour and xanthan gum.
Since the rest of the ingredients are already in flour or powder form, that means that only the white and brown rice are actually milled in the blender.
The total quantity of white and brown rice added to the pitcher is 2 ⅔ cups. That’s almost 3 cups of rice grinded in this blender, which is an impressive quantity. It’s definitely a big blender capable of taking on big grain quantities.
We are advised to select the mill speed setting and to let it run for 1.5-2 minutes or until finely ground.
Then, we can add the remaining ingredients to the rice flour and, using a whisk, to stir until evenly combined.
From these instructions we can deduce that the Breville Super Q is not as fast as Vitamix is but it’s still capable of grinding rice into a fine flour so I’m totally satisfied with that.
There was no way I could have written an article looking for the best blender for grinding rice without mentioning the Breville Super Q because it deserves its spot.
6. Vitamix 5200
If the Vitamix E310 Explorian is too cheap for you, then you can spend $150-$200 more and buy the Vitamix 5200.
The Vitamix Dry Grains Container is also compatible.
There really isn’t that much of a difference between the 5200 and the Explorian.
They’re both truly capable machines, although the 5200 is slightly more powerful. I saw a user review once from someone who has used both of them and that person mentioned that the 5200 is considerably more powerful.
Well, for the price difference it absolutely out to be, that’s what I’m going to say.
Besides the 1 to 10 speeds, we get the additional High speed. That’s another indication that it has a more powerful motor base.
We also get a bigger pitcher.
The 64 oz is a nice container size, ideal for blending medium to large batches. That’s another attractive point and one of the few features that set these two Vitamix models apart.
We can also make hot soup. The power of the blades reaches speeds fast enough to create friction heat. In about 6 minutes we can turn cold ingredients to steaming hot.
7. Vitamix 7500 Blender Super Package
I would say that this set is absolutely perfect for those who want the Vitamix Dry Grains Container alongside a powerful Vitamix blender in the same package. It can save you the trouble of ordering two separate packages.
Moreover, it’s also perfect for those who really don’t mind spending somewhere around $700 or a bit less on a blender package.
It’s a bit more expensive than if you were to buy the Vitamix 5200 and the Vitamix Dry Grains Container separately. Thus, it’s up to you to decide which option you’re going to end up with.
Components
Let’s see what the Vitamix 7500 Blender Super Bundle offers for the high price.
We get a very powerful motor base. It has a 1,440 watts motor or 2.2 HP as Vitamix describes it.
This is a machine with blades that are capable of grinding even the toughest ingredients. However, we can keep the wet container for smoothies and cooked ingredients and we can use the dry grains container for tough dry ingredients or for mixing batters or for dough making.
Indeed, the two containers in the same package is an attractive deal from a reputable brand.
The 64 oz low-profile container is perfect for family meals and its shape will fit perfectly under most kitchen cabinets.
The 32 oz dry grains container will take care of grinding rice into fresh flour, it will mix batter and it will even prepare dough for baking.
There are also 2 20 oz cups for warm and cold beverages on the go. These 20 oz cups don’t transform the Vitamix 7500 into a personal blender as we saw with the Breville Super Q. These are simply to-go cups. Only the 64 oz wet container and the 32 oz dry grains container work on the motor base.
Just like most Vitamix models, the 7500 is very easy to use. We get the same 10 speeds and the pulse function.
Best Blender for Grinding Rice Buying Guide
In my introduction, I mentioned that there aren’t that many models that can grind rice because they need to be powerful and they need a very good set of blades. Let’s see what else you need to be aware of when making your choice.
Countertop or personal blenders?
Well, we can definitely rule out immersion blenders from our picks. Therefore, the choice remains to be made between countertop and personal blenders, two of the most popular types.
In my reviews for the best blenders from grinding rice, I only reviewed one personal blender. That is the Nutribullet Personal Blender 600.
It’s because that’s the only model that I believe that can truly work for grinding rice into rice flour whenever we want and at a cost so much cheaper than if we were to buy the flour from supermarkets.
Besides that one, all the other models that I picked are countertop blenders.
These are characterized by having a much bigger container.
The smallest pitcher for a countertop blender is 48 oz, while the nutribullet 600 comes with a 24 oz cup.
Other countertop models will have even bigger jugs, 64 oz, 68 oz, etc.
Another major thing that sets most countertop machines apart from personal blenders, besides the bigger space they take up on the counter, is their powerful motors.
If you truly care about having powerful motors that can handle everything you want to blend, mix, chop, turn into puree, pulverize frozen ingredients and ice in bigger quantities, then you’re going to prefer the bigger blenders.
Thus, countertop blenders are also perfect for those with bigger families. If you want to make smoothies for a number of people in one go, this is the type you’re mostly likely to be satisfied with.
Reasons for choosing personal blenders
Who would be most suitable for choosing the nutribullet 600?
First of all, it’s perfect for those with a budget under $100. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money because you aren’t sure that you’re going to stick too much to using a blender regularly, then you might be better off making a purchase that you won’t regret afterwards.
Secondly, they’re great for those living in smaller apartments where free space in a kitchen is a true commodity.
We live in a world where we end up buying and using a lot of kitchen appliances. It can be a blessing when we can buy at least a few of those appliances in smaller sizes. That’s another awesome point about personal blenders.
Just like I love immersion blenders that also come with a small chopper accessory, which can easily replace a much bigger processor.
Last but not least, the nutribullet 600 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to raw power. It can truly turn white and brown rice into a fine flour so there are no worries on that front.
Moreover, the cheap accessory in the form of the Nutribullet Milling Blade can be a true treasure. You won’t even need a coffee grinder anymore. Or a spice grinder. And certainly you won’t need to buy a grain mill.
Thus, I can safely say that the Nutribullet Personal Blender 600 together with the Nutribullet Milling Blade are a favorite of mine when it comes to recommending the best blender for grinding rice, although the bigger models from Vitamix and Breville are certainly stunning, powerful, incredibly versatile and of high quality.
